AutoZone is actively seeking an experienced IT Architect to join the Commercial IT team. At AutoZone, IT Architects collaborate with our business partners and software developers to analyze, plan, design, and deliver innovative solutions to complex, high-value business problems.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with technical leads on High-Level Designs at a domain, product, and project level that enable achievement of business objectives
- Ensure designs align with agreed-upon enterprise architecture guidelines and industry best practices and, where necessary, facilitate acceptable tradeoffs
- Ensure designs consider security, component redundancy, service continuity, disaster recovery, data integrity, monitoring and other DevOps run needs
- Build consensus among stakeholders around proposed designs
- Assist software developers in implementing application design and patterns, providing examples if necessary
- Assist development teams in successful implementation and support planning for emerging solution architectures
- Foster enterprise development standards and practices
- Mentor Systems Engineers and Senior Systems Engineers in their technical and career growth
- Review change plans and provide feedback / input to ensure change success
- Understand the IT portfolio supporting our Commercial business, how the various systems integrate, and the involved data life-cycles
- Look 2-3 years down the road to establish and refine IT product / systems roadmaps
Skills/Qualifications:
- 4+ years’ experience in REST/micro-service software development involving Linux, Java, and Oracle required, Spring Boot experience a plus
- 2+ years’ experience in architecture/design required
- Experience with React.js preferred
- Experience designing large-scale solutions that were deployed to cloud providers (e.g. Microsoft Azure, GCP) and integrated capabilities specific to those platforms
- Experience with C/C++ and Qt a plus
- Experience with or an understanding of retail systems a plus
Requirements:
- Computer Science Bachelor's degree or similar required, MS/MA preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and analytical skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts and designs to a broad range of people
- A systems thinker, able to move fluidly between high-level abstract thinking and detail-oriented implementation
- A self-starter that is naturally inquisitive, requiring only small pieces to the puzzle, across many technologies – new and legacy
- A data and fact-driven decision maker, with an ability to make quick decisions under uncertainty when necessary
- Able to quickly learn new technologies and tools
- Experience designing, implementing, and deploying large-scale, highly-available, service-based software systems (e.g., REST, micro-services), especially extensible platforms that support ecosystems of third-party application/plugin developers
