What you will be responsible for:
The Engineering Manager works with IT and business stakeholders to help them leverage APIs to achieve company objectives and enhance business capabilities. The engineering manager determines API strategy, prioritizes enhancements, and facilitates implementation. He or she also serves as the API subject matter expert and product champion across business and IT stakeholders. This position is strategic in nature, and you will be challenged to set and influence medium to long range (2-5 year view) business goals.
Work with IT and business stakeholders to determine how APIs can enhance business capabilities. Roadmap API strategy and enhancements for a given business capability. Manage and prioritize a backlog of work, and coordinate with API engineers and development teams to develop new API capabilities. Coordinate API releases across stakeholders to ensure high-quality and timely delivery. Act as an API subject matter expert, ensuring APIs are used effectively. Serve as the point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders for questions regarding API use, optimization and adoption. Identify and collect technical metrics to demonstrate successes and opportunities within the program.

- We will require that you direct the effective implementation of new systems including roll-out support, business partner training, performance monitoring and ongoing maintenance.
- You will be required to effectively interact with IT and business management to resolve operating, technical and coordination problems that may impact system effectiveness and operations.
- As an expert in your field, we will require you to participate as a member of the IT management team in functional activities such as planning, budgeting, special projects, and other initiatives that span the organization.
Skills we would love to see:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency with software architecture, methodology, governance, and roll-out/implementation process.
- Three or more years of product management experience
- Five or more years of software development experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience building, consuming and supporting API
- Experience with the Java Spring framework
- Skill in developing and deploying services to an API gateway on-premises and/or in the cloud
- Systems analysis and consulting skills; along with a continual desire and capacity to learn
- Global IT support and team leadership across international borders
- Project management – estimating, planning, controlling, and execution.
- Strong communication skills; can communicate effectively with business and technical teams
- Strong understanding of user experience and data integration
- Ability to understand business strategy and translate it into technical solutions
- Personable, comfortable presenting to various groups
- Attention to detail, combined with the ability to comprehend the big picture
