The Chief of Staff is a high-visibility strategic partner that supports the CIO with effective decision-making, project management, and execution of strategic initiatives across all portfolio companies. The Chief of Staff provides the organizational and communication framework for customers, employees, and leadership team members to implement the Information Technology vision and achieve annual goals. The Chief of Staff lives in the future and focuses on long-term planning and projects to ensure the growth and success of the organization.

Key Components:

  • ORGANIZE – organize ideas, projects, people, time, and resources necessary to keep all companies moving forward
  • COMMUNICATE – communicate the vision, ideas, projects, or the process to the necessary people. This includes creating content, providing context, and helping connect the dots across all organizations to create opportunities and growth
  • DELEGATE – projects and tasks to the appropriate people, support them, and hold them accountable to the results

Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the daily operations of the IT SLT – (IT CIO and VPs)
  • Build and run cadence for leadership meetings, and leadership offsites, including structuring and helping to deliver company-wide communication
  • Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives, facilitate special projects, and ensure action items are executed on behalf of the CIO
  • Operate at a tactical, strategic, and operational level, handling the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within the organizational chart or that fall between departments or leadership areas of responsibility
  • Assist with storytelling and thought leadership on key Technology presentations such as those shared with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee
  • Act as the point of contact for the CIO’s direct reports. Triage all incoming requests for the executive’s time and work collaboratively with the CIO Executive Assistant to ensure her calendar is aligned with the priorities of the organization
  • Proactively follow up with the IT SLT team when goals are not being achieved to determine why objectives are not being met. Provide actionable recommendations for improvement
  • Promote team integration as well as cross-functional communication and collaboration
  • Track high priority initiatives for the CIO to identify any/potential obstacles
  • Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to IT SLT, standing in on meetings, challenging ideas and offering a different perspective, and following up on action items with the team accordingly
  • Provide analysis, recommendations, and options to the CIO regarding high impact decisions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, management information systems, or business with experience in technology
  • Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior management
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in technology services across multiple channels
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic activities and leading cross-functional projects
  • 10+ years’ experience in roles with similar responsibilities above with demonstrated growing levels of responsibility in the following areas:  Financial management and reporting; Strategic planning; Portfolio Management; Chief of staff
  • Holistic thinking and ability to influence teams to look at the big picture and gain alignment with the organizational goals
  • Strong desire to focus on analytical insights and answers to tough problems
  • Growth mindset: you seek out learning opportunities for yourself
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal guidance and cross-functionally with various teams
  • Experience in structuring and executing complex analyses to support strategy in a fast-paced, evolving environment
